Hello all,
Having an issue with my Viper 5706 where it will randomly activate, generally at night when it's cold, and it reports back to the remote that either:
1. Doors are open (hood/doors/hatch)
2. Panic was activated
3. Moon is full
This is in a 2010 Infiniti FX50s btw.
When I use the SmartStart app (I have the cellular based SmartStart module) it reports that the doors are open, sometimes all 3 (hood, doors, hatch) and sometimes just one or two).
When the alarm goes off I can hit the unlock on the remote and it will shut off until it fires off again.
Lastly sometimes the alarm appears to be self locking as well.
In doing some research I've seen various "causes" around random alarm activation and most of these center on a door switch not working right, a loose wire on the alarm, or a wire grounding. However given the status messages I'm seeing on the remote and the app I'm thinking it's either one of three things (and I could be completely wrong and just assuming)
1. The brain is bad. The fact that it's sometimes reporting a panic activation or self locking might indicate this?
2. The DB3 module is bad and is receiving/sending bad OEM status codes back to the brain.
3. There's a wire short somewhere.... but it seems odd I'd see the variety of conditions I'm seeing if this was the case, such as the alarm self arming.
Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks!

I would try diode isolating your trigger wires from the vehicle first.

Thanks for commenting Geep.
I should note that the alarm has been installed and working well for about 3 years, the problem is new. As for trigger wires the alarm is receiving door status from the CAN bus over the DB3 I believe? I have no remote triggers installed. But I may not be understanding your suggestion (I'm not an installer). If I'm using the data bus for status messaging would I still need to isolate any wires with diodes?
I'm assuming that if I needed diodes I would have needed them at the start correct? Since the alarm has been in operation for a few years and is just now exhibiting the problem does that change what you would suggest?
Thanks.

I'd go with the door switch.
Viper 5706 isn't the problem. Never seen a faulty module in that series (570X).
DB3 has only been out a few months it would have been a DB-ALL or a DB-ALL2. The 2 is very stable.
Forget diode isolation, it's all done off the DB.

Sorry, you are right, I'm using the DB-ALL2 (I think :D).
Any thoughts on why the app would report (when refreshing the vehicle in the app) all 3 doors as open? Hood/Trunk/Door? That seems a bit odd to me.
Also would a bad switch (and I assume you meant the vehicle switches?) cause the alarm to trigger even when it's disarmed?
Thanks.

Ah I missed that part. Apologies.
Triggering while off is a new one for me.
Can you physically see or hear the alarm triggering or is this only via the Smartstart APP on your phone?

When it triggers I can hear the alarm (siren) and both the remote and the app trigger. The remote works to disarm/stop the siren but it's likely to trigger again.
This is why I'm thinking it's not a switch but either the alarm brain, the DB-ALL or even the car....
When it's in a "bad state" I notice that the parking lights will remain on and even the headlights will remain on as well sometimes. If I arm/disarm the alarm they will shut off.

At this point I can only suggest re-flashing the DB-ALL2.

Thanks for the suggestion. Was going to take it to a local shop to give that a try.
