i just bought a used car and it has a viper alarm installed.  how do i find out what model it is and then can i download a owners manual from it somewhere?  i found the siren on it and it says 514N on the back of it but i dont know if that means anything.  also the remote is black with 2 buttons that say "I" and "II"

thank you so much

If you are able to locate the brain then its easy to tell what it is...since Viper made a lot of 2 button remotes it might be hard to tell what it is...why do you need to know what model it is?? Most Viper alarms are the same, once you find out what it is you can go to www.viper.com for the manuals

its just a small black box with connectors that have wires comming out of it, it will say "Viper ###"....each installer puts it in a different location the key locations are under the dash, passanger or driver's side or under the center consule (sp?)

I can give you a clue just by yer keypad. You said that it was a two button keypad with the buttons labeled "I" AND "II". But look on the back and see if you can read the FCC Id number. Also, when you press the buttons on the keypad, does the little light in the keypad light up green, or red? And by having a 514n siren, its most probably a newer viper alarm, because thats the siren that comes standard with the newer ones. So if its newer (less than two years old), the keypad should have the green light and the fcc number should be EZSDEI471
Am I right? If I am right then its a 99 percent chance that you have a viper 300esp . One more thing to just make sure, do you have a black alarm antenna mounted somewhere on the upper windshield?
