Hi, I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe.

The problem is that once in a while my truck will not start. After monitoring the problem for some time I noticed that the "SECURITY" light on the information center was blinking during the time that I was NOT able to start the truck. I then noticed that after 10 minutes from the time that I initially attempted to start the truck, the system seems to reset (SECURITY light stops blinking) and I can then start it.  What causes the system to lock up this way?

This happened to me 2 times during a 1 year period while using the crimestopper, and about 5 times since I installed the Autopage RS-750, about 2 years ago.

Did I miss a wire somewhere?

I normally try to save a buck doing my own installs, but this one has me a bit puzzled.

I would appreciate any input anyone has to offer

I think you don't have the correct resistance on the module for the passlock system that those trucks have.  By doing your own installs you not only save a "buck" you actually save a hundred or two, but it may come down to this.  So you can have a pro look at it or just double check your bypass module for the correct resistance and hook up. good luck

Thanks,

Do you know why this is an intermitten issue?

I like to save money, but I also try to understand and learn as much as I can along the way.

I will defenately double check the passlock wire harness.

Thanks again!!

You didn't say what passlock bypass you used but in my Blazer I used the old school relay and resistor not the PLDATA. It might be that the resistor in what ever bypass you purchased/made is bad or again incorrect. However it is so close to correct that it only does not work when like it's hotter in the truck (changes resistance) or it's humid.
