if you are hooking up a stand alone remote starter to a car that has a factory alarm, what do you have to do differently to have the two systems interact.  Is it a lot different than hooking it up on a car that does NOT have a factory alarm...  I just need to know how to hook it up with the factory alarm or if there is a way to bypass it.

What car do you have ?
What remote start system do you try to install ?

Usually the remote start must have a status output that will disable your factory alarm when the vehicle is started remotely.

most factory alarms will not be affected, and no, it is not much different than a car without a factory alarm.  unless you have an immobilizer, it is as simple as attaching one wire

need to known model and year to be specific

answer is no.. your remote start does not take place of the factory remote

but it can if you do a few extra connections

if you connect all the features of the factory remote to the remote starter, you can have most if not all the functions, but you must connect each feature

on most cars you can setup your remote start to shut off the factory alarm, but not always can you setup the after market remote to turn on the factory alarm..

it is important for anyone giving you tech support to know what vehicle you are working on...
