Hi. I bought an alarm recently, but I haven't installed it yet, because I've been pretty busy lately and also because I cannot find any place to mount the siren. It's a 1996 Plymouth Neon, DOHC, so I don't know if the model with the SOHC has more room in the engine bay to play with, but the space I have is very limited. My friend told me that I could mount it inside the engine bay, near the driver side tire well I think, but I can't seem to find a good spot. Any Neon owners out there that installed an alarm in their car? Lemme know where you guys mounted the siren. Thanks.

Try removing the original bracket from the siren and using a piece of cheese strap (radio bracket) instead.

BTW, I usually place the cheese strap through a large enough piece of heat shrink first to prevent it from getting weathered and to help hide it.

I'm not quite sure what a cheese strap looks like. Searches on Google on radio brackets bring up results that don't look like they work. Would you happen to have a picture of one?

I found an area where I could mount the siren, but it's on the passenger side and it would be facing perpedicular to the ground, towards the passenger. I'd have to run a bit of wire for the 12V, but would this have any other negative consequences or drawbacks to it?

Can you remove the top plastic cover to where the radiator is on that car? If so, mount the siren there, it'll be hidden and tougher to get to for a theif to cut it's wires, always a good place to mount it.

Here's a piece of cheese strap or back strap.
