i just installed a clifford cyber 4 alarm into a 2000 xterra.  i had to turn on the delayed courtesy lights feature.

now, if i lock the doors with the factory alarm keyless entry, the dome light shuts off immediately.  when i arm the alarm and the doors lock, the domelight stays on for about 20 seconds.  can i make it so that the domelight shuts off when i arm?

Not sure about the shutting down of the delayed dome light when armed, but you might have to diode & relay isolate the door trigger wires instead.

Yes you can use the dome supervision output from the alarm (if available) to do that and it's easier, most cliffords have that output.. Just arming the system won't turn the interior lights off.

Try closing the doors and turning the key in the door from the outside. Does this lock all the doors? If so, does the domelight go out right away? If it does, you can find the wire coming off the key cylinder and use that for locking the car.

elrayo, i have a concept 200 in my 99 civic.  that turns off my domelight when i arm my alarm.  maybe it's a function of the factory alarm on the xterra.

chris, i'll try out what you suggested.

chris, i locked the doors with the key in the door keyhole, but it still didn't turn off the domelight right away.  but the factory alarm did arm, which is weird.  any suggestions?

Well, what is your main concern?

I'll bet you don't care so much about the light going out right away........you're probably worried that you'll leave it on all night by mistake, right? You probably like to see the light go out before you walk away from your car, just to make sure.

Well anyway, many new cars time out the domelight after a while anyway, so you can't kill the battery. Leave your domelight on on purpose, then come back to your car in about a half hour...........is it off now? If so, your car has this useful feature, and you won't have to worry about your battery anymore.
