I installed a car alarm for my honda accord and the domelight is not turning on when the door is opened. I have tapped the (-) door trigger input of the alarm to the BLACK/ white (-) door trigger of the wire harness. After arming the alarm, it triggers when I open the door. When the alarm is disabled and I open the door, the domelight does not turn on. The domelight works in 'on' and 'off' position but not in 'door' position.

In my Integra, I had to check the contacts. They were a bit coroded/rusty. I took them apart, used some fine grit sandpaper and it was back to normal. That was my problem...contacts not working.

grounding type pin switches often have this problem. the grounding tab gets dirty, corroded, etc and doesn't provide a steady ground to trigger the domelight. Clean up the pin switch and its mating surface, and it'll work fine. but if its triggering the alarm, its at least partially working...have you checked for an obvious blown fuse? remember, circuits are often double and tripled over, so an odd fuse might support the domelight trigger and be blown. b

If opening the door does trigger the alarm, that suggests that the doorpin switch is working correctly.
Possible problems are the positive side of the domelight isn't getting power (blown fuse), or the bulb is bad, or you've turned the switch all the way to off.
Does the door-ajar indicator on the dash still work?

This is great feedback. It worked for a couple of days and back to the same problem again. Everything was fine before I installed the alarm. When I use a tester I get normally low and when I push the switch from the door, it shows high. I don't think it's just the switch because none of the other door turns the dome light on. The alarm triggers though when a door is opened.

How did you tapp into the wire did you use t taps maybe you broke the wire when you tapped into it check that it's getting a ground signal when the door is open on the wire after where it's tapped into.

yipes!!! please don't tell me you guys use those gawd-awful things!!?? Ttaps, "scotch-loks", etc, should be BANNED from install bays around the globe. Not only are they the most ineffective and unreliable way of making a connection to ANYTHING, they are dangerous and say a LOT about the installer using them. in my mind an installer who uses those things with a straight face does not care about the quality and integrity of the install they are doing. just my 0.02  b

As I mentioned, the alarm triggers when I open any door. The dome light does turn on however. So here's my problem.
Alarm inactive->door open->no dome light
Alarm active->door open->alarm sound still no dome light.

I guess you could try process of elimination. Try disconnecting the alarm's domelight wire, and see if it turns on when you open the door (like it probably used to.....originally).
When you installed this feature, did you need to use a relay from the alarm to the domelight wire? ------------- Q: What's the best nation in the world?
