Subject: 03 ford focus sedan door trigger?

I put a viper 550ESP in yesterday.  I got the Remote start part up and running easily.  I started on the alarm part and can't find anything.  I have all the diagrams from DEI and misc. other places.  THey say to use a BLACK/ blue wire that's low in the drivers kick panle for the door trigger.  Well there are 3 of them.  So I broke out the voltmeter and all 3 of them show positive 1 volt DC when the door is open and nothing when it is shut.  So it is a door trigger wire, but I tried connected it first to the positvie door trigger on the alarm and then the negative.  Nothing.  SO then I tried just grounded the negative trigger on the alarm (as a test) and it did set off the alarm.

What do I do here?  Also how in the h*ll do I hook up the door locks?  I saw stuff in the manual about resistors and all kinds of crap.      :errr:

The door trigger wire will be in a loom of wires leading along side the driver's door sill . Cut open the tape and search for the wire there. The doors locks are just (-) trigger, nothing special.

That's what I did.  I found the wire, there are actualy the 3 of them in there.  But it wont trigger the alarm.

SO how do I hook up the door locks?  I though it said somewhere I have to do a 5 wire hook up.  From what I see in this post, I just have to hook up a lock wire and unlock wire, the unlock wire gets a diode on it, and uses a double unlock pulse?

Try the 15 pin connector ( Pin # 13 ) by the DKP. The door locks are just (-) trigger according to all my notes. Just hook up the UNLOCK and LOCK wires straight from the alarm system to the respective wires on the car. try this out and post your results. It can't hurt anything.

I will try the connector over the xmas break.

One issue I have with the direct connecting the lock wires is that it says in the viper manual that it can only handle 2 OEM locks.  I have 4, it's a 4 door sedan.  But I am assuming I can just use two relays, but how do I get them to flip polarity?   what a painposted_image

If you need to boost the signal of the (-) trigger on the Viper, use this diagram.

But for the door locks there are two wires, don't they flop polarity?

No, they are both (-) trigger.

really?  I know the door triggers are (-).  But I am talking about the lock and unlock input.  You learn something new everyday.

Has anyone here put an alarm in an 03 focus?  Just curious if somehas a picture of the door trigger wire connection and the door lock connection.

You not following what I had just posted. When I refer to a (-) trigger door lock system, I am referring to the pulsed current taht it requires to actuate the door lock circuit. A (-) trigger means that the output on the alarm or remote starter has to be a (-) outpute ( or trigger ) and this will actuate the door locks. To look for the wires, grab a hold of the boot between the door and the car and move the boot around and see which wires inside the car are moving, find the appropriate wires and hook up the door unlock and lock wires from the alarm to these wires.
