anyone know the passlock 3 wires, I believe they are red, yellow, and black need someone to confirm please. found resistance out of these wires and matched a resistor to the vehicle as close as possible, but I think the tolerance needs to be closer on the passlock 3 system. I know there is a module that i can use through the data bus system but its saturday and there is none to be found. anyone have any info.... thanks ....Jones

Use a module... The resistance tolerance on those systems is like less than 5% I believe. Go on eBay or google and search for passlock transponders... Thats going to be your best bet. As for the wire colors, what make, model and year of vehicle is this? --mindctrl

If your vehicle which you forget to mention is really Passkey III, then it doesn't involve resistors. The key has a transponder inside it and you MUST use a module with either a spar key inside it or one which can be programmed so the vehicle sees it as a valid key. Most GM Passkey III keys have PK3 scribed into the metal part of the key.

HUH? no it reads resistance, , you can actually bypass it with a relay and a resistor. I completely forget how, my sheets on how to do it are at work.

I talked to one of my vendors and he said there is a module you can use through the databus system just like the door locks etc.. to bypass the passlock 3, the wiring was similar to passlock 2 but different colors thats why I tried to use resistors. I didnt mention the vehicle because passlock 3 should be the same in whatever vehicle it is. (04 avalanche) thanks though..... ------------- druid

pk 3 reads resistance???? I will like to see that diagram, As far as I know you will need a ke or a module to bypass without ot a key ( 555G ) some systems are fuel enable others are data enable you will have to see what kind of car.

Is up to the installer to test all wires with a DMM whenever possible.

The Avalanche should be Passkey 2 not 3. Pass 3 is a transponder and not resistive based. The module for the 2 is cheap and works good.

Wierd I have a note here that says the 04 Avalanche can either be Passlock II or Passlock 3 (typo?). Maybe they are switching it over. Either that or they are coming out with a new one called Passlock III that no one has heard of. It was translated from french, so it may be a typo. Wierd though that it would sayit may have either.
One way to test to see if it is passlock II versus Passkey 3 (if the shaft of the key doesnt have PK3 on it) is to have a plain metal key cut and if it starts thge vehicle then it is passlock II. If not then it must be passkey 3.

Sorry, I mis-read that note. It does have Passlock II.
Pay no attention to that bush, it's just a bush.

I ended up using a PLDATA module from one of my vendors, has power, ground, databus wire and ignition 3 input, very easy power up the vehicle after all connections have been made it learns the code, turn the key off and your done. ....thanks .....jones ------------- druid
