Hello,

I just recently installed my first remote start on my truck.  Everything went fine.  I owe it to this site and a lot of help from Mobiletoys.  Anyway I don't have a question but I do want to point something out on these newer Chevrolets just in case somebody runs into this.  These newer trucks are setup so that the radio stays after you shut off ignition on until you open a door.  Also it has some kind of battery protection feature.  If a light is left on (ignition off) or something for around 30 minutes, the vehicle will kill power from the battery until the key is turned to on.  I new that the truck did all this but didn't really think about it.  I remote started the truck and shut it off via the remote.  I didn't open a door to turn the radio off.  When I came to back to drive the vehicle the alarm no longer responded to the remote.  I had to get in and turn the key on and then use the remote.  The valet switch didn't even work.  The whole time the alarm was going off (that's one thing that puzzles me).  Anyway I was just giving a forewarning.

Thanks for everybody's help.

Hey Shaun,

I have that same feature with the radio turning off when you open the door on my Bonneville. It's pretty neat.

Thats pretty freaky. I mean I have a blazer and to the best of my knowledge the alarm will still function as normal when the BCM shuts off power in the situation you are talking about.

You might wanna double check your positive or ground (hope not) and move it. Chances are better you will be struck by lightning while whening the lotto before someone would take advantage of the issue but still..
