I have a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire I can't seem to find the correct tach wire for my viper remote starter. I know it's the violet/white wire in between the transaxle and rad hose but it dosn't work. I tried taking it from inside but no luck. I tried almost every violet wire there is and nothing works. Then I tried taking a signal from the fuel injecters but got no luck with that. If theres anyone out there who can help me I'd greatly apprieate.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I am not familiar enough with that vehicle to tell you were to try next. Crime Stopper makes a "tach signal generator" that works very well. I have used it on vehicles that I could not find a valid tach source. It mounts to the alternator.

The viper can be set to read voltage. If worse comes to worse you can use that. My info says its in the ignition harnes next to the battery

Which wire from the injector did you use. The injector wires work 100 % of the time with the newer remote start systems. You have to use the uncommon colored wire and you have to solder the connection to the tach wire on the remote starter unit.

dei direct wire says the same thing ,
PONTIAC, SUNFIRE, 2003, Tachometer

The engine harness is found next to the battery, below the radiator hose, just above the transaxle.

What engine do you have? I may have a picture.

check with DMM if you get 1 - 6 acv on that PURPLE / white.  make it sure you're in tach mode just curious.

Some new vehicles use less than 12 volts in thier ignition system. The unit may have trouble learning the tach signal in this vehicle. Check your unit if you have a jumper for tach threshold, if so, you may turn this one on.

hope it help.

I have the 2.2L ECOTECH engine. I found a wire that was below the 1 volt mark but flucuates  between 0.3 and 1.15 depending on engine speed, I connected that (it was purple) but my viper system said it was too weak of a signal.

yup, its in the wires to the coil pack.  i think the PURPLE / white there will work too. there are two different harnesses side by side where the spark plugs are, test for it there.  i think im using the wite on my cavalier.
