Hi, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm kind of desperate right and need some help. Because of some money problems my brother in law is installing my alarm(APS996A) on my 99 Expedition. He was doing great until he reached the part about the relay. The manual says that he has to use the relay (the one that came with the alarm) with some wires, but then on the next page, it says he has to use the SAME relay again but with other colored wires.
Also, the manual first says to connect the dark green wire to the hood/truck switch, but then on the next page, it says to connect another wire to this switch. Can you please explain this. P.S. Please excuse my ignorance, but I know nothing about installing alarms.

The alarm installation is quite basic on this truck. If there is only one input for the trunk and the hood pin trigger, then you will need to hook up the two separate wires to the one trigger wire on the alarm and diode isolate the wire from eahc other. In the case of the Ford you have, the trunk trigger is tied in with the door trigger so you don't have to worry about that. On the flip side, the Ford also has a GEM system that shuts power off to the truck about 30-45 minutes after the last door has been closed. This causes problems because the trigger on the wire initially is (-) and rests at 12 volts when the door is closed. So, after the 30-40 minutes go by the GEM shuts off power and lifts the 12 volts and there is no power on this wire and the alarm thinks that the door opened and triggers the alarm. To bypass this, you will need to wire in diodes and relays like this diagram. ------------- Jeff

dont hook up hood or trunk pin and save ur slefs some trouble..........

*cant spell....lol......put a toggle on the hood pin for remote-start only........trunk pin will work with door pins on that truck...

First, I want to thank anyone who tried to help me out. My brother in law was able to get a hold of his friend who installs alarms. After a couple of hours, he was able to install the alarm. But now we are having trouble with the remote. I want to know how to program the remote to start my engine. Does anyone have any idea how to do that?

-the remote should be preprogrammed by default.
-if the remote works for alarm and keyless entry then theres no need for programming for remote start. make sure the r/start toggle switch is turn on and all shut down pins are not being seen by the unit.

Ok, I finally got the remote start to work, but since I need the key to start the engine (chip on key), I bought a 555F to bypass that. But I'm having trouble programming the 555F. Any suggestions??
