Just mount a pinswitch behind it.

I would have to agree on a floating mercury switch. They also make a magnetic aelf adhesive switch as well.

Uhh "no sparks" All Odyssey have two pinswitches on their fuel doors. Whos seen a spark off of a pinswitch in an alarm application??? Regardless even if it happened it would be on the opposite side of the fuel.

Are people stealing your gas? If they can spend that much time around your vehicle why dont you just add a perimeter sensor?

I'm going to intall a pin switch to protect my fuel door as well. The connecting end of the switch where contact is made is on the other side of the panel from the fuel cap so even if there was a spark it's inside the vehicle. But a negative switch for protection in an alarm is such a small signal that there is no spark and it's only a momentary tiny pulse...it's not like it's grounding a relay that's held as long as the switch is made.
