Hi, I bought a 97 Civic EX from a Kia dealership a few months ago. It has an Autopage RF-305 alarm but it doesnt work. There is an empty fuse holder near my battery inline with the main power wire. When I put a fuse in, the alarm goes off for about 20 seconds and shuts off. Then the car is armed. If I bump it, it goes off again for about 20 seconds. I have power everything in the car. The thing is, when I push the buttons on my remote, it doesn't do anything. Won't lock the doors or disarm the siren or anything. I can't find a manual or programming instructions online at all. The only resource I found was this forum. Can someone please post the programming instructions? or maybe my remote is bad? No idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Shawn

Have you asked the dealership about the alarm? Also when you bought the car did it have only one remote? You might want to locate the alarm brain and see what exactly your working with. I'm sure there is an autopage dealer online somewhere that could help you. might try a new battery in the alarm as well. just a thought.. thanks

The salesman I bought the car from didn't know a thing about it. The car was As-Is, so I'm sure they don't give a rats ass now.  Yes, it only has one remote, I didn't get a factory remote. I've also had the dash apart and checked out the brain. Everything seems to be ok, appears to be a proffessional install. I think if i knew how to program it, it might work. The battery in my car went bad about a month ago, but  I don't know if replacing my car battery will effect the programming. Does the brain have a battery in it for memory? Anyway, if i could get programming instructions that would be great. In the meantime I'll try the battery thing in the remote. Thanks. Any other ideas would be great too.

My friend has a brand new system in the box. Tried his new remote battery, no luck. Think my remote is bad? Is that a common problem? I sure wish I knew how to program this sumbitch. posted_image Autopages' support stinks. You'd think they would have this stuff on their site, or that I'd be able to find the programming instructions online, no luck, and I'm good at web research.

Here is the link to an RF-310 system. Looks just like mine (RF-305) https://www.autopageusa.com/Products/Alarms/rf310.htm

one other thing you might try is getting the wiring chart for your vehicle and making sure that the wires are hooked up to the right wires in your alarm. good luck!

Well, turns out my valet switch was missing, and the LED wasn't hooked up. I put a toggle switch on for the valet, and I hooked up my LED connector to my green LED under the steering column. Thing is, the LED kinda flickers and flashes without any meaning. Sometimes it's steady, sometimes it stays off. Other times it kinda flickers without completely going out and flashing, if that makes any sense. I was wondering if this LED I have requires more voltage than the 6 volts coming from the brain to power it. That would explain the flickering? I took my friends' LED from his new Excalibur system and it is smaller. When I hook his up, the LED stays on all the time and doesn't flash or flicker, not even once. Oh, and ever since I hooked up the valet switch, the alarm went off once for 20 seconds, shutoff, and hasn't gone off ever since. When before, it would always go off (read above). I even put a push button switch on for the valet without any result except for my siren chirping 3 times, which it hasn't done again. I'm thinkin I have a bad brain, but idunno. I've put so many hours into this thing, I hate to just give up on it, thanks for all the help.

Shawn

PS - I did check the wiring diagram, and everything is wired correctly.

I'm not a pro, but what i would do is scrap that old alarm brain and just get a new one. At least u already have the wires accesible and a new brain would be very easy to install. the harness may even fit. i would check every wire 1st. I think your right though, the breain is probably fried.. even if it isnt there isnt much u can do about it. i would invest in a new brain.. at least then you know what your working with. good luck!
