My brother just bought a 98 acura RL and it came with a keyless entry remote.  The remote has 3 buttons, 1 for lock, 1 for unlcok and 1 for trunk.  When he press the lock button, the lights flash once and the car beeps.  However when we open the door with key, their is no alarm so we think that this is just keyless entry only.  Anyways, in order to add any alarm system with keyless entry and pager and all that, do i need to remove the existing keyless door thing or just buy an alarm and install it as is.  thanks in advance

The 1998 RL does have a OEM alarm system in it. It came factory on ALL RL models. Chances are it was permanently bypassed by a previous owner. Just wire in the aftermarket system into the RL and retain the OEM system.

Both audiovox and DEI make security systems that can be wored into exisitng factory keyless entry systems.

what about non-factory, like if i don't want to use the lock/unlock signal to arm and disarm the alarm (700T)?
