a t-tap(scotch-lock) uses pressure applied by pliers...it is a small piece of plastic w/ a groove for the wire tyo fit into...it then has a piece of metal so when you close the t-tap around the wire the metal closes and penetrates the insulation and makes contact w/ the wire...hope this helps...3m makes t-taps...basically looks like a little pac-man who when squeezed bites into wire allowing you to take a male spade and plug into t-tap...

avoid them at all costs... they are notorious for intermittent connections.....

I was just asking cause I recently installed an alarm and R/S in my car and I soldered most of my connections but I also used some connectors that I think are called butt splice connectors, are this better than T taps.
Or should i think about replacing those too. i only used a couple of those.

do not use in high current applications(never really)... i would remove them all and solder...usually causes resistance becauce slab of metal does not equal to the size wire you tap into...

man speaks truth.

on my alarm i just installed, i used a t tap on the ignition wire, and i'm noticing that it is causing my truck to fire a lot longer(maybe a couple more seconds)

gonna solder everything up tommorow
