hi guys,

i know a bit of basic electronics (audio & housing elctricals)but this is my first time to install a car alarm on my civic 02, first here is the alarm i got on ebay,

https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dll?ViewItem&item=7924268955&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

its a basic & cheap alarm that i just to make practice then upgrade later, im just planing for a basic alarm that will sound if the sensor sense a violent impact such as forcing my door or breaking my glass

question is:
are all wires is just to be tapped?

no need to cut wires on my existing wiring?

im worried about people saying that i might trigger the airbag, any comments?

any helpful tips for a fist timer?

thnak you

All wire should be spliced, soldered and taped.

U will need to cut your starter wire to install starter kill Relay

As long as U have the Correct wiring Diagrams and understand wiring

Get as much info as possible before U start anything, and ask questions

mo12v,

what is the function of starter kill relay?

if ill not be installing a hood switch/sensor can all the alarm connections be done inside of the car?

You need to install the hood switch / sensor zone. Otherwise the primary battery power will be compromised.

Starter Kill or Ignition Kill is to make that function INOP when Alarm is armed.

Yes: Most Connections could be done inside car

But like Teken said........"You need to install the hood switch / sensor zone. Otherwise the primary battery power will be compromised."
Meaning a the Theif could dis-able your alarm.

I realize that you want to spend as little money as possible.

But, the unit you have elected to purchase isnt worth your time or money. Even, if it was given to you free.

I would also suggest you install a secondary interrupt relay to the following area's : ignition, fuel pump, ECU, fuel relay, etc.

There are pro's and con's for each. Layering is what you are after. You will configure the relay in the normally open (N.O.) configuration.

The alarm you are getting is configured most likely in the normally closed (N.C.) configuration.

The former is called fail secure, and the latter is fail safe.

you should buy a digital multimeter to test any wires in your car.

You are not being nosy. You are asking a valid question to a statement being made about a product.

Simply put, you could obtain more security by installing a ghost interrupt relay(s) in your vehicle, which also would cost you only $5.00 USD or less.

Obviously the above method does not have a remote to activate any functions. But the very same goal which you are seeking is there, which is security.

If you havent heard these phrases before here they are:

BE AWARE - PARK SMART - DONT ADVERTISE - RUN STEALTH

These four simple words, which placed into motion, by your life style, will account for 90% your security risk.

The other 10% is simple chance / luck, or rather the lack of.

If you wish to learn more about relays and their potential applications. Please take the time and resources to review all threads in the relay forum on this site.
