viper 790xv transmitter problem

Hi Folks

I installed my viper 790xv - the alarm worked just fine but I had to play with the Bitwriter and I used the ZAP function. Now I can't get the transmitter to work at all. I tried to set the channels but that didn't work. I believe I heard the chirps but as I pushed the transmit button, there was a long chirp from the alarm and the remote indicated weak signal. Each time I use the Bitwriter and read - it says channel 0 in the beginning. What am I doing wrong?

byway, I didn't hook up the starter relays because the car is a manual transmission

Now, with a door open, turn ignition to the run position, press the programming switch once, and then once more and hold. Press the Lock button for standard configuration, auto learn. There should be a confirmation chirp, and the doors should lock iff hooked up. Turn off ignition, transmitter should be programmed.

If the remote is flashing the no signal looking antenna on the right of the TX antenna... there may be an issue with the remote. That series of remotes, and even the current series of responder remotes have an issue with the "daughter" board inside. The solder on the two connectors breaks rather easily (3 pins on one, hmmm... 7? on the other). You may have to resolder the connectors.... use a very very fine, low heat soldering iron ( the pistol grip Weller stays in the toolbox for this delicate task!). I fix at least one of these remotes weekly...

Hi Gus,

Thanks for the info - Reading your directions, I didn't do that. I opened the door, ignition in the run position, I pressed the valet switch once, then I pressed again and held it in but I didn't push the transmit button. I waited until I heard the chirp, then I pressed it.  It sounds like it is to late. I will try it.
