I have a fully loaded 2002 Escape and I would like to install the ford remote start /alarm system. Do I have to disable g.e.m unit to install this? Or can I just install it

Ive done them before and I have never had a problem. I dont think that the escape needs a gem wakeup like some of the other new fords. You do need to run power for the remote start to the battery. The ignition harness isnt strong enough. You should also use a transponder bypass that has a keysense shutoff circuit because ive had problems with the ecu dumping the codes for the keys if you dont.

if your vehicle has a C.A.N.  system u have to be carefull with the type of test light u use since this can cause key dropping and factory keyless to stop working as long as u use a computer safe test light u should be okay........
