Does anyone know if it is OK to install a PLDATA and a GMDL4 databus module together on the data wire and hook them both to the same ground output of my VALET 562T? I just wonder if 2 modules on the same ground output would be to much of a load for the remote car starter. Is it also possible to hook a third module such as WINDATA to the databus wire and have all three modules connected at the same point to the databus?

2 modules I don't think would be a problem, 3 may be pushing it a little bit as that is a low current output. Those modules probably don't draw much at all on the ground out, but you may want to put your meter on it and measure to be safe. Regardless, you want to diode isolate ALL 3 modules. And yes you can tap all the wires going to the same data wire together.

Personally I would boost the ground when running wire with a relay to ensure proper ground on the modules. This is the life line of the modules to perform properly so if you increase the ground, you will ensure proper working modules.

yeah... throwing a relay in there will take a couple of extra minutes and cost much less than having to replace a gm module.

When you say "diode isolate all three modules", do you install the diodes in the wire going to the data-bus?

No need to diode isolate the ground when running wires if your using a relay to send a ground to them If you didn't use a relay and only used the ground out when running wire from the RS, then I would diode isolate.

Velocity,

Can you show us an example of an "boost the ground " relay?

the same as using a relay for trunk release...you take a low current negative from the unit ( whether it's trunk release or ground out while running ) and use a relay to supply "true" or "hard" ground.....

Your pin configuration would be as follows.

#86 12v fused

#85 ground out from remote start

#87 chassis ground

#30 output to data modules
