Hi,

Hopefully someone familiar with the Prestige APS996A can help me.  It is going in a 96 Cav with Passlock I.  The instructions with the alarm only mention GM VATS system.  I could find no info on Passlock I in the book.  Do I need a 555 bypass module or a similar product from Audiovox?  Also, when mounting the antenna, where is the best place on the windshield glass for it?  Is it best to put it up by the rearview mirror and run the wires through the headliner?  Thanks ahead of time.

you will need a bypass for it, not vats, thats different.  Search for passlock 1 and you will find the one you need.  As far as I know, put the antenna just how you said.  Good luck!

You can use the IPP03 - Instant Programming Passlock Bypass Kit
IPP03 is designed to temporarily bypass ALL GM Passlock I/Passlock II/PASSKEY/VATS anti theft system

from Bypass.com.   The center of the windshield  is the best location.  I would say anyway on the windshield would be okay.

Have you ever used that brand bypass?  When I was doing starters before it was always a pain doing the cavaliers because of the passlock I.

Use the PLXR for this vehicle instead. The IPP03 is disconntinued module and the PLXR replaces this module. THis is a gerat module as long as you follow ALL the wiring instructions and programming instructions.

Thanks for all of your input everyone.  Where do I get this PLXR module you speak of?  Also, will any brand bypass work?  I know where I can get a Auto Command bypass for little or nothing.  WIll this one work or is it junk?  Thanks again guys.  Love this site.
