Just installed a starter this weekend on the f150, all seems well with very few bugs.. but one that I noticed (and need help) is finding what to use as a "key sense" wire. I had to get the transmitter that bypasses the PATS system, and its got 3 wires... hot ground and the third is for a optional "key sence". basically when this is triggered, it turns the key chip signal off that is sent to the ignition, thus allowing the truck to start with another chipped key (when both are present (key and signal from transmitter) the truck will not start as it sees 2 codes and doesn't know what to do... I have looked at the wireing diagrams on this forum, but they don't go into that much detail, as this wire would have to be able to tell when there is a chip in the igniton and when there is not.... Thanks in advance on this one!!!

I'm no expert  but I have an idea and since nobody else has said anything yet I'll give it a shot.   On my 2000 f150 I don't think there is a key sense.  What I would do is connect the hot wire to a place on the remote start unit that is only hot when the Remote start is activated.   Unless you have a dedicated wire for that purpose on you R/S I would use one of the extra outputs on the R/S unit.  Is the key sense wire looking for a ground?

What make/model r/s are you using and who makes the bypass?  Is there no way to program 2 keys into the bypass unit?

it has a key sense , but my data sheet does not say what color it is, we workedon a 98 explorer yesterday and the key sense was green all by itself in a clip on the side of the antenna ring at the ignition switch.

On the 2000 the BK/PK wire near the ign switch and gem module is the wire which causes the annoying key is in the ign tone. Perhaps that would suit your needs?
