I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5 5spd with original electric locks--but no alarm or keyless entry.

Am going to install aftermarket keyless entry system. Have found some wiring information here, but am confused on two issues:

It seems there are two lock/unlock wires. One set that goes to the door key cylinder and the other to the interior switch on the driver's door. When using the door key, it is possible to unlock only the driver's door, then with a second turn all doors. I would like to do this with keyless as well (press once, driver's; press twice, all). Is this possible?

Also, I see some remarks here about using the key cylinder wires to avoid the issue with the Toyota child lock system. Can anyone confirm?

Any additional wiring diagrams appreciated either posted here or by e-mail (in profile).

Thanks

VT

Does your aftermarket keyless entry offer a second unlock wire? if it does, tag the key cylinder wire with both unlock wires and program feature for split unlocking (if applicable). If not use your unlock for the dirver door and 2nd channel output to unlock the other doors. I've added a wiring diagram that I found.
You can also test to see if it has the child safety feature, roll down driver window lock door with key, reach in and see if it will unlock with doorlock switch if it doesnt unlock, you have the child safety feature.
