I installed an Omega RS7K2 with an 555g bypass in a 2003 Lesabre. The starter will not engage long enough with the remote to start. If I put a meter on the start wire it shows 12 volts from the remote but it only engages starter for about tenth of a second when it shuts the starter wire off. If I put the key in ignition without turning it it does the same thing but if I turn the key to the first click (nothing comes on with first click) the car will start like it's supposed to with the remote. I can remove key and it stays running on remote until I shut it off or times out.  Did I miss a wire that is supposed to be grounded or something? I am powering pink, white, brown, and orange wires up with remote starter. I was thinking of taking the 555g out and putting a GMDLBP in instad. Is GMDLBP more reliable?

if it does takeover or pitstop(whatever you want to call it) than the 555g isnt hooked up right. make sure the negative ignition wire is hooked up to the status wire of the bypass. also try the 12 volt constant.

The GMDLBP is a good module but you might want to look at your ground when runing wire from the remote starter. Try taking the ground when running wire off the module and placing it straight to ground. Try remote starting it and see what happens. Also, make sure that your ground is attached to a clean metal surface and is not loose. This will affect the perfornmance of the entire unit as well as the bypasss module. If you have access to a GMBP also, try it instead of the combo unit.

I may be missing something, but if the starter is even cranking on a lesabre, the anti theft bypass is working. sounds like the tach either needs to be reprogrammed or if you are running it tachless, try hooking up a tach wire. just run a long wire on the outside of the car to the coil pack and see if it works.

I don't think he is. If the car starts w/ the key in the ignition, but not w/ the key out of the ignition, it's a bypass problem.

Or so it seems to me-- sometimes I'm a bit simple-minded,

I went back and checked everything again. When I read directions for 555g I realized the car wouldn't start with key in ignition so the bypass won't work either. I unhooked bypass and car doesn't start when I put key in ignition.

This is what is happening:

1.  Bypass unhooked. Key in WITHOUT TURNING it. RS tries to start but car is not letting starter crank ( I know this because I put meter on start wire and had 12 volts for a second or two but starter doesn't engage ).

2. Bypass unhooked. put key in and TURN to FIRST CLICK ( nothing powered up in car but steering wheel unlocked).  RS starts car up fine just like it supposed to with full starter engagement for a second.

If  one of the igition wires is losing power for some reason while cranking will that cause this?

It could-- your ignition wires generally supply things like fuel pumps and what-not that really do need to be on for the car to turn over consistently..

But I don't see how that's the problem if it starts w/ the key in the first click position, if that doesn't turn on ignition wires.

It still sounds like a bypass problem. I can't find a source that lists that bypass as being appropriate for your car. (Let me be clear that I have no clue as to whether it is appropriate-- just throwing that out...)

Perhaps it's time to try a 556U?

I finally got this to work but I have to ground blue wire from 555g before remote start kicks on. What I did is I  hooked up blue wire direct to ground so 555g is on all the time. Will this hurt anything like setting a code or locking out car so it won't start later?

Is there a way to hook this up so bypass comes on before RS unit or do I need a different RS unit with delay built in?
