Workin on an '04 Colorado, installing an DEI Avatal 4200 remote start/keyless. I used the 2 relays with the diode in one and the resistors in the other, as per DEI Directfax document 1603. That all works peachy, but I can't get a tach signal anywhere. Tried the non-common colored wire on 2 different fuel injectors, it doesn't test and it won't learn. I also tried the non-common on 2 different coils and it also didn't test and didn't learn. Everything else is in and works great. I tried searching on here and saw where a couple other people said they were having problems finding a tach signal, but nobody said where they finally got it. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

any wire not pink or black at the coil or injector. done a few of these and worked every time. are you sure the meter is on ac voltage and tried both positive and ground reference? make sure the voltage threshold is set to low and tach option is selected. try this and let us know

Why not just set the unit to voltage checking instead of tach and be done with it?

Yeah, those were the ones I tried. The coils are like pink/BLACK/ red, pink/BLACK/ blue, pink/BLACK/ purple, and a couple others. My DEI directwire said the same thing, use the non-common wire, and the other 2 would be pink and black. That is exactly what the truck has, but like I said, none of them tested and/or worked.
Why they don't test is beyond me, and of course we don't have the 4200 anymore, so I can't swap the brain and see if it's a bad unit. I know the threshold was on low and tach was enabled. Hmmm, guess I'll check it out tomorrow some more and try it again.

I'd prefer not to do that, much rather have a tach signal. But I guess as a last resort I'll have to go that route.
