Remote Start on a 1996 Benz C280.  O.K. guys, everyone's feed back has been helpful, and I just have a few last points that I need clarification on.

1.) This vehicle does have a factory installed alarm system.  Does this have any additional requirements (outside of the ones mentioned below) in order for the R/S to work?

2.) Ignition Harness - The ignition harness is located under the fuse box, under the hood.  So all my R/S wires have to be extended through the firewall, if I mount the brain inside the vehicle.  Is there no better way?

3.) Starter Kill - It's my understanding that this vehicle has a starter kill that responds accordingly to the doors being locked or unlocked.  The starter kill can be bypassed by grounding the wire.  I have conflicting info, should I use the PURPLE / green at the fusebox or the PURPLE / blue in the drivers kick @ the starter kill relay?  Please advise.

4.) Power Lock/Unlock - My DEI specs indicate that I must ground a PURPLE / brown wire @ the door lock pump in the right rear corner of the trunk  for the R/S to work.  Is this step needed if I bypass the stater kill following the procedures above (Question 3).

5.) Paking Lights - One set of specs indicate I need to diode isolate only, and the other mentions diode isolate with relays.  Please confirm which method should be used

6.) Door Trigger - My specs indicate BROWN / Gray (Front) and BROWN / Grey / YELLOW dots (Rear).  Where is the best place to locate these wires?

Lastly, I just want to let everyone who reads this that I have been doing this for 10+ years (so I'm not a rookie), but I'm not a fan of Benz.  I'm trying to look out for a customer that has yielded ALOT of business, and I want to dot all my "i's" and cross all by "t's" before working on his car.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Factory security module in trunk (if vehicle has one). May isolate arm/disarm from locks by using relay. Windows also controlled by locking and unlocking doors with key (convenience module also in trunk). If use a system that can be programmed to unlock before remote start, then lock after remote start, use it. It willsaev you alot of time.

There's no other way that I know of. This has been a problem with this vehicle so you have to run the wires into the cab or fabricate something that is air tight for the brain of the RS in the engine.

Use PURPLE / GREEN and if RS doesn't work, then try PURPLE / BLUE

There is also a single WHITE/ green wire at the dash mounted door lock switch that does not engage the starter kill. It can be located along the passenger side of the console under carpet.  Type E but 1 second pulse will operate. May not operate locks at all times - test before connecting.

To be safe I would diode isolate with relay as well. Won't hurt anything.

Best place is at the pin or wire loom running along side the door sills.
