04 Accord remote ?

I had a Viper 160XV remote with a 556U interface installed on my 04 Accord V6 by a national electronics chain that has best buys.

The remote will not start the car after it has sat for more than two hours or first thing in the morning.

My Honda dealer checked the car out and said everything was on specs but told me that the new V6 due to mileage and polution concerns that when cold it will take more cranking to start it.

Iv'e taken back to the installer three times.

The 1st visit they extended the crank time to .8 seconds. The next morning the remote would not start it.

The 2nd time they ran a tach wire and told me this would cure it for sure. The next morning thr remote wouldn't start it.

The 3rd trip he was dumbfounded that the tach wire cure didn't work and extended the time to 1.4 seconds. The next morning the remote didn't start the car.

I'm getting a little frustrated. I have to travel quite a ways to take it back for the next fix.

Any suggestions?

Well, I took it back and gave him the information on the tach wire and location.

He said he had the right wire, raised  and that it had learned the tach wire.

It did not start the car this morning. It cranked three times and gave up.

I asked him to contact Viper for technical assistance.

Is it impossible to sucsessfuly install a Viper 160XV on this car?

If it attempts to start it 3 times and fails , then it's not the tach. The tach would over grind the starter or it would start and then shut off again after about 10 - 15 seconds. Do this, sit in the car with the key in the ignition and remote start the vehicle. If it starts fine then it's the 556U module that screwing things up.

Another test to make sure that the wiring is correct, is to sit in the car while it's running and then remote start the car. Remove the key and if the car stay's running, then it's no fault on the wiring. It would be the bypass module.

If so, ask those guys to switch out the bypass module with a keyless version.

It looks like a bypass module issue, had similar issue with a 2003 honda accord....I had to switch out the bypass mod.

I used both tests and the results point to a problem with th 556U module.

I called the installer and asked him to switch the module. He told me he has to use this one.

Is there an alternative to the 556U for a 04 Accord with the factory alarm?
