I cannot get a straight answer on what kind of door locks an 02 lexus gs has.  I know that you must go into the door but how can they be bypassed with or without a special module.  Can anyone help me.  I will be trying to put in a remote starter and I know it has a transponder in the key.

you will need a relay and couple of diodes and run three wires into the door.

as far as what type of drlk the newer toyotas trucks and lexus cars have, the directfax #1070 will somewhat give you an idea on how it works.

I just did a RX300 last weekend. The doors need a relay, 2 diodes, and in my case if you want progressive unlocking( drivers 1st, remaining next pulse) you wire in drivers door. If you want all doors to unlock you wire in the passenger door. Follow the 1070 document and you should be good. You can get +12 volts from the power window switch. Probe with your DMM to locate the constant source.

Good Luck

but does anyone know if there are molex plugs that you need to drill through to get into the door.  I have ran into some high end car that have that and i try to stay away from them

Lexus uses a harness that has a plug in the kick panel. (Not a plug at the door jamb, as in my Honda Accord)

Yeah my RX 300 had thicj rubber boots in both the door and the door jamb. It was real cold from sitting outside so I used a hair dryer to warm up the rubber. Then I pulled both sides out and ran the wire throught with a old coat hanger. Pulled the wire through into the door and then plugges back in the rubber boots. Your far better off to pull the boots because on the grommet there is about 2" of rubber that goes into the door and the jamb. It also decreases in diameter as it gets closer to the end so it makes it almost impossible to get it through on a single shot.

Good Luck
