I wanted to know if it is ok to use a 1n4007 in placement of a 1n4001. the reason I ask is that parts express don't carry 1n4001 anymore.. thanks

I wanted to know as far as hooking it up to the door triggers in a 1992 nissan stanza.. really just in general though but thats an example

i belive 4001 had a 50 volt rating anf the 4007 has like 100 or 1000 volt rating. something liek that

Yeah the last number is normally the amount of amps the diode can block.

mr shcult3 is right on.  The last digit is usually a current rating...

I will usually use a 1n4005 or larger....
