Which manufacturer has the best range? I have heard great stories about the range of the new Compustar systems, but is their range really that much better than something like the DEI 791? Can anyone with experience with these systems comment?

I don't know about the DEI, but I have a Compustar, and the range is great! I can not really complain about it.
