ANYONE KNOW HOW TO CONNECT VW DOOR LOCKS WITH APS996
Can someone please help me, I am in the middle of installing my car alarm and I came to one problem. The door locks, cant figure it out, there is only one wire that gives a pulse a negative when I open and a positive when I close the door locks. (I pretty sure or the other way around)
Now how do I connect this to my alarm? I am going crazy that is the only thing I need for my alram because I need to disarm my factory alarm with those so this way I can use my auto starter.

According to DEI if this is a 98 Jetta III. The locks are positive pulse. Lock is yellow/red or gray
and Unlock is RED / Black or Green.
They are in the drivers door harness in the kick panel. It requires a double pulse to unlock.

The only wire that gives a pulse is the gray/green and it gives negative when u open, a positive when you close it.

one of my guys had the same thing on his Jetta. switch is in the center console or something right? i used a DEI 451M, you can use two relays though; it's the same thing.

85 | +12V

86(1) |  - lock output

86(2) | - unlock output

87(1) | +12V

87(2) | ground

30 | to the single lock wire

think that does it. if not, let me know, i'm kinda tired and thinking hurts.

I installed my Golf3 Alpine system. I'm not sure it is same with your VW but check following,

Just peel the inside carpet behind the right tail-lamp and find out the black box. This is the vaccume pump module. Pull out the connector of it and find out the wire you need. In my case, GREEN is for unlock, GRAY is for lock. In addition, I could find out 12V constant and ground wire in there.

This must be sure and easiest way of it I think.

if you want to run to the trunk, then try what drp said. if you want to stay in around the dash, try what i said. personally, i've never been into the trunk for mine cause the switch is just right there in the dash and it works

You're right, another-kelly. When using relay, stay under dash. Not using relay, run to trunk.

You got another one-wire, Lubuspl. If it is in the dash, use relay as a-kelly said. Another way is to find out appropriate wire from the vaccume pump module.

K thank you everyone for your help, I just want to post this so other people looking for answers can find it fast.

I don't know why but the door lock and unlock did not show on my testor when I opened or closed them. I did find the vacum motor on the driver side (inside the trunk) and it has a green(unlock) and gray (lock) These wires do right to the drivers kick pannel so I found the wires there. To make sure these were the correct wires, I pulled a wire from my positive battery and I gave it one pulse for lock and a double pulse for unlock. After you test this and the door locks connect to wires.

With the factory disarm wire, from my alarm Prestige APS 996a the factory disarm wire (BLACK/ blue) send out a negative pulse, you only have to connect a relay to this wire to transfer the negative pulse to a positive one. Then connect the proper wire from the relay to the unlock wire of the door.
