I have a pro start 3300 series starter for a manual Transmission installed in a 2000 sunfire. I have checked and double checked my wiring everything is good.  I can't get the unit programmed for my remote. The instruction book states to flash the hood pin , turn ign ON, then OFF and press the lock button on the transmitter. I have tried this several times and the transmitter will not communicate with the module. I have also tried a new transmitter and still nothing. The module is powered up. The park lights come on when I flash the hood pin, but go out within 1-2 seconds. I have installed many of these pro start units before and have never had this much trouble before. If I recall, when you flash the hood pin usually the park lights stay on for awhile like 20 seconds not 2 seconds.

Please HELP!

Thanks

"when you flash the hood pin usually the park lights stay on for awhile like 20 seconds not 2 seconds."

That's correct, but reading from your post it doesn't sound like you are flashing the hood pin correctly. Check your hood pin and make sure you got a good ground on it.

Why don't you try this.

1. Press and hold the Hood pin for 4 seconds.
2. Let go of the Hood Pin.
Parking Lights “ON” 3. While the Parking Lights are on, press down the Hood Pin once more.
4. Release the Hood Pin again.
“ON” for 20 seconds
5. You now have 20 seconds to do the transmitter programing.

Thanks, thepencil

Worked like a charm. I'll have to remember that for next time I get a stubborn unit.

Do you have the clutch bypass diagram for a 2000 sunfire?

Thanks again
