I was wondering if anyone knew if I need relays in order to install a keyless entry system on a 2000 2.4 L Stratus. I'm a first timer to installing an alarm but I have done a considerable amount of work on other areas of the vehicle.
This is not to hard of an Install..............It has been a while, but I thought there were 3 or 4 Relays at the Fuse Panel for the Doors. If there is you could supply your Negative Pulse from Keyless to the correct PIN on the Relays.
Otherwise it is just as easy to do this:
Constant 12 volts | RED, RED / BLU, PNK/BLK | IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS * |
Ignition 12 volts | D BLUE | IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS |
Starter | YELLOW | IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS |
Dome Light | YELLOW (-) | BLK 6 PIN CONN. AT JUNCTION BLOCK ** |
Trunk Pin Switch | TAN/BLACK (-) | AT LIGHT IN TRUNK |
Parking Lamp | BLACK / YELLOW (+) | AT HEADLIGHT SWITCH *** |
Power Lock | SINGLE WIRE SYSTEM | BROWN 16 PIN CONNECTOR #217 |
Power Unlock | WHITE/ D GREEN **** | IN DR. KICK PANEL |
* !!CAUTION!! The RED / L BLUE Wire Is Only Fused At 10 Amps. The RED Wire Is Only Fused At 20 Amps. The PINK/BLACK Is Fused At 40 Amps. ** Junction Block Located Behind Left Side Of Driver Dash. *** Also Located At The Steering Column Harness. **** See Tech Notes

Tech Notes:
Single Wire Door Lock System, WHITE/ GREEN Wire Requires A 12 VDC (+) Pulse Thru A 620 Ohm Resistor To Lock And A 12 VDC (+) Pulse Thru A 2.7K Ohm Resistor To Unlock.

Hey thanks for the help but I do have another question...I wired up a 620 ohm resistor and a 2.7K resistor to the positive lock and the positive unlock on the connections from the alarm module. I hooked up both of these to the WHITE/ dark green wire but it still doesn't work. I guess my main question is, how do you know that the voltage that is being supplied from the alarm module needs resistance in order to work? Is it possible that the module is already outputting the proper voltage in order to lock and unlock the doors? Also, from what I can tell everything is working fine, the parking lights light up, the siren works, the shocksensor is fine, but I did notice that the dome light won't turn on by manually flipping the switch. Do you know what might still be wrong? Thanks.
Sorry to keep bugging you guys but I just measured the voltage on the WHITE/ green wire when I'd lock and unlock the doors. I got .45 Volts when I'd unlock and 1.7 V when I'd lock it. I then checked the output from the alarm module and both the positive lock and unlock would output .16 V when I pushed the button. So now what do I do?
