Where do most people mount the shock sensor for their alarm systems? I'm assuming on the frame somewhere but is their a certain spot that is ideal for it?

thanks
matt

i prefer to mount it close to the middle of the car, so that way you don't have it super sensitive on one side and nothing on the other, but it also depends on the car, also i like to mount it on a large wire bundle because i've found if you mount it to something solid it's to sensitive where the wire bundle allows for slight viberations (such as a cat jumping on your hood...old clifford ad )

OK, you're an idiot. Second, a shock sensor shouldn't go off unless a very large cat jumps on your hood. If it goes off from a cat then it will false alot. You are the reason I don't use my shock sensor and that no one pays attention to car alarms anymore.

Anyways, i dont like cats. I dont like claws on my car, it was a joke take it as you wish. The reason people dont pay attention to car alarms anymore because they always wake them up. Another reason is because everyone in North America is self centered and only cares about themselves. Go to Europe if you want people to actually care about car alarms. So back to my question... where in the middle of the car?

most people prefere a sturdy wiring harness under the Dash

i installed my entire alarm system under my drivers seat and extended the wires. the shock sensor is mounted to the bottom of the seat.

I mounted mine close to the middle of the vehicle mid way up the Dash with some tie straps around a duct or bundle of wire just strapped loosely

I mounted 2 of them- one under the hood right onto the firewall and wired it into the hoodpin wires, and the other in the trunk wired into the tilt sensor wires

I hate shock sensors also but the best place to mount them is to the steerin column under the dash.

thats why they never work right. even facetoy alarms don't mount shock sensors there.

It really depends on the type of shock sensor.   Most  DEI shock sensors are best if they are wire tied to a main wiring harness (thus the reason they don't have holes to screw them to anything).  Other ones (that do have holes) can be mounted to anything.   But, I prefer even straping those to a harness. I would NOT put it on the steering column.  I have seen way too many wires caught around it.

some people should just stick to hooking up amps. if you can't make a shock sensor work correctly, which is probably the alarm installs equivilant to opening a can of soda you need to step back and watch someone else make it happen.
