I have no idea what or where the "coil" is located which i need to find in order to find my tach wire. Please Help

What does the coil look like because i have no idea what i'm looking for.  Is it under the dash with all of the wires are or is it under the hood?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Open the hood up and get us a picture. That might be easiest way for us to lead you to the water.
