Hey.....so I saw that diagram on https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp about making one channel into multiple outputs.  I don't get it posted_image

Is this saying that (since I've run out of channels on my alarm), that I can take the trunk pop channel and add a sunroof opener?  I guess I don't understand if this will make a certain channel (say channel 2) do two things at once (with one click of the remote)......or 2 things separately.

Can someone please explain what this will do?

If your alarm has illuminated entry you can use that 30 second window to make your alarm channels do another function. Example....channel 2 .    Press channel  2 as normal to pop trunk, or disarm alarm use illuminated entry output to trip relay and reroute channel 2 output to do a different function ie windows down but you only have that 30 sec window to do that function till illuminated entry kicks off.

Why don't you tell us what you want to do & what kind of alarm you have, and we will give you the best way to hook it up.

well, I have used up my extra channels with trunk pop, remote start, and a window mod.  I was just curious if I could add another channel with a relay.....but I wasn't sure for what?  Maybe to turn on/off the headlights if I wanted to, or maybe open the sunroof.  But I didn't want it to happen with something else.....only sometimes.  Like, I didn't want everytime I popped the trunk to turn on the headlights, you know?

Hi, I'd like to dredge up an old topic, going partly on what Rich06 said in his reply.

Basically, I would like to add a horn honk to my car. In other words, I'm coming out of the store, and would like to hit a button on my remote to briefly "honk" the horn, so I know where the car is ;-)

Since all of my channels on my alarm are used up, can I still do this without buying a channel expander? Rich06 was mentioning using the illuminated entry. Maybe I can do that. I could disarm the car, and then hit the channel2 button again to honk the horn. Although, I'd rather it just have it's own sequence or button. Since you have to hold the button down for 2 seconds to get the trunk to pop, is there a way to have another accessory by tapping channel 2?

cpgoose, You could just use the lock output from your starter to honk the horn. It would honk everytime you lock your doors with the remote though. What unit do you have?

550esp Yea, I was trying to just have the horn honk or headlight turn on all by itself. Right now when I unlock the car, the siren chirps, but the horn doesn't honk. I do have the horn hooked up to the siren when the alarm is tripped, though. I would just like to try and mimic the 450 channel expander without buying it posted_image
