I need some assistance.  I ordered two Impulse RES add on remote strt kits for a Honda Civic (2000) and a VW Jetta (2001).

I understand that these are not the best remote starts around, but they were the only ones I found that were "add-on" units.  If you could recommend something else, I can return these.

I need detailed installation instructions for the units AND wiring diagrams for both cars.  The jetta also has some type of passlock system in it that I was told could be bypassed with just a few relays (?).

PLEASE contact me - It's getting cold, and my GF is bothering me to install these systems.

Thanks,
UMS

The best thing to go with would be a Crimestopper RS 900 but your remote start will work as good if you install it right....  The only thing you have to figure out(assuming you do not have remotes from impluse) is how will you give the units a neg pulse to active the remote start if you do not have a aftermarket alarm.

To do the remote start in the VW you will need a 555 bypass unit.

Just for future reference, these companies also make add-on remote starters:

I installed a bulldog remote starter to my girlfriend's existing alarm/keyless entry in her '97 Civic.  The problem I ran into was that once the car was running, she couldn't use her keyless entry to get in the car.  This was cured with 2 relays.  Here's the link for that post if you're interested: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=3&TopicID=2348&Search..

Just thought you'd like the extra info;)

I looked at the add ons but they don't say how they work.  Do they need a free channel on the remote or can you just push one of the buttons (like the lock button) 3 times and it will start?  Also, do they come with good installation instructions?

I would love it if you could give me more detailed instructions on how to install the 2 relays.  A picture or drawing would be the best thing for me.

Thanks for the response.
