got a 97 navigator with PATS (ring around the key cylinder)...ok..brought to me because it wont start...had an alarm on it..for some reason it was pulled..the ring setup is messed up(the ribbon is seperated from the ring casing) ive pulled the ring/connector assy. out and im wondering if there is a way to just completely bypass it altogether..(in other words basically remove it...if its not possible..how to I get around this..i would rather just bypass it altogher...the only part of it i left in the vehicle right now..is the wire harness that goes to the box..and the plug for it..the ring and box is off...im wondering if i cant just connect some of those wires together and bypass it..anyway..any help is appreciated......thanx

Nope, off to the dealer it goes. If you are clear off this and it was only brought to you to look at, charge an hour labor and tell them to go to the dealer.

Depends on what was screwed up, of courset the harness. But what happens if the harness shorted out something else?

well the harness itself isnt damaged...just the 4pin ribbon that goes from the ring to the box (bout 2 inches long) was pulled out of the ring..and frankly i dont know how it connects back to it....but the harness going to the box..is fine.
