hey guys, i installed an autopage rs-850lcd into an 03 silverado recently and the customer just returned with two warning messages coming up on the dash.  when you start it with the key as well as with the remote start a "battery not charging" message flashes momentarilly but then everything seems to be fine.  then only when you remote start it, a "service 4wd" message comes up and stays until you put it into gear.  Everything with the alarm is working perfectly and the truck is running and driving fine.  could i have missed an ignition wire?  have any of you had a similar problem? thanks for your help.

Did you hook up the white wire, tranny damage can occur if you didn't?

it sounds like you missed the second ign wire, i beleive with those it's a smaller white guage wire, you gotta test for it because i think there's 2 or 3 white wires that all look alike. but that's what it sounds like to me.

i'm pretty sure tha i got that wire but i could be wrong.  have any of you ever seen that battery not charging warning?  i'm not thinking its because of that wire because it comes up when you start with the key as well.  thanks again for your input.

Battery charging could be unrelated. Maybe his alternator is failing. The 2nd ignition may also be supplying power to the charging system. But definately tell the customer not to use the remote starter until you add that 2nd ignition. When the transmission computer doesn't boot up during initial start it won't shift above 2nd gear and he'll burn up the tranny.
