Ok I installed a remote starter in my 2003 Ford Explorer and everything works great.  When I shut off my car the stereo does not turn off until you open the driver door.  So my problem is that when I start my car using the remote starter my cd player will turn on and stay on until I go and open the door to get in, and if I start my car and do open the door the cd player will stay on untill the battery dies.  How do you I bybass this so that only the heater will turn on.

Thank you

disarm and interrupt door trigger w/ some diodes after RS is timed out.

I couldn't imagine the radio staying on until the battery dies........ are you sure?

I know on GM vehicles, the radio times out after 20 minutes, and on Chryslers, after about 1-2 minutes. I couldn't imagine the Ford not having a timer.

If you haven't tried already---remote start the car, shut it off with the remote, wait a half hour, and come back and see if the radio is still on.

What remote starter are you using ? Do you have a pulse after start wire on this unit ? I had the same problem with the 05 Express Van's for this one company that I delt with where the radio would stay on indefinitely ( no word of a lie , the RAP did not shut off like it was suppose to on 5 different Express vans ). I use a diode and the pulse after start wire and it pulsed the BCM before the diode to make the BCM think that the door had opened.

Velocity incase I run into this problem. All I need to do is pulse a door trigger wire?

Its best, and safest to "open" the wire with a relay and use an output to trigger the relay.

More reliable than using a diode......

In some cases this is all you need to do. Other times you need to cut the wire and pulse the BCM only. It will depend on the situation and the vehucle that you are working on.
