I have a 97 f150 that has an autostart in it, and everything works fine except I keep setting off the factory security system.

In order to disable the factory security all I have to do is hold the Unlock button for about 1 second, however out of force of habit, I always just press the unlock button quickly because thats all you need to unlock the truck.

I changed the unlock button to give out 1 1/4 second unlock pulse, followed by a second 1/4 second pulse.  (double pulse).

This does not help the problem, it doesn't disarm the factory security, so I changed it back so single pulse.

My question; Is there any way around having to hold down the unlock button for that amount of time? Would connecting the disarm wire from the autostart to the disarm wire on the vehicle allow me to press the unlock button and disarm the security.

Follow up: where is the factory disarm wire located? Wiring guides just tell me kick panel, is the wire apart of factory keyless entry module or box?

no mo12, you don't have to because if you just hold onto the unlock button it will disarm the factory security.

Did I not answer this question?

Holding down on your Remote button is just triggering another Pulse

You need a Unlock or Disarm Pulse going to this wire::

Sounds like whoever installed it has a Pulse going to it already, like the TRUNK, second Pulse or another Pulse when you say you can HOLD down on UNlock a little longer & it will Disarm
