is this possible to do? My alarm/remote start antenna had to be unmounted from my windshield when I got my windows tinted and I dont want to put it back up with adhesive for fear of ruining the tint. Could I just run the wires back to the radio antenna and wire it up to be an alarm antenna? I never listen to the radio so that wouldnt be a big deal if I lost radio functionality. I belive on my model of alarm, the antenna has 2 or 3 pins, most likely transmit, recieve, and ground, but I can check further if need be. Thanks a lot!

what if I unhooked the radio antenna wiring and hooked up the alarm wiring in it's place? by the way, I went out and checked the alarm and there are 4 wires, still not sure what each one does yet... I guess I dont understand why it won't work because the alarm antenna is just transmitting/receiving signals from the remote, and if you wire up the alarm wires to the radio antenna and disconnect the radio wires, wouldnt it work the same? just a bigger version of what came with the alarm?

I see...I didn't know that is how they worked. Thanks for the replies though. After reading that, I remember hearing something about extending radio antenna wires, you have to add like 6" increments because of radio wavelength or something...anyway, thanks for your info

Antenna's are TUNED to wire size and lenght. To CHANGE the original setup WILL NOT WORK.

Yup. Completely different frequencies. Now if you were using the old school pager then it would work perfect for you.

old school pager? elaborate ;)   my alarm/remote start is a codealarm (viper subsidiary I believe) with 2-way pager. Probably not what you are talking about though

The old pagers worked off the radio antenna, not possible anymore. Some guys here remember i'm sure, they had a power antenna lead that would raise it when the alarm is triggered.........the old days :)
