I have an '82 F-100. I installed the alarm about a year ago and everything works fine. I've added Gages with lights and LED accent lighting to the Dash and now I would like to have the parking light flash flash only the Parking lights and not the Dash Lights...

Any suggestions

the Flash tigger off the alarm is hooked to the parking light wire at the Light Switch

Thanks

The dash lights are tied into the switch. To only flash the parking lights;  you have to tie into the parking lights direct using relays.

It may be possible to tie into them after the switch end depending on how the vehicle's wiring is designed. Any reason why you don't want the dashlights flashing as well?

Tie into a parking light wire near the headlights that might work.

That will not accomplish anything and is unnecessary extra work.

Your dimmer/dash circuit gets its signal from the parking lights. Its going to trip your dash lights no matter WHERE you make your connection.

You would have to interrupt the parking light source lead into your dimmer and relay isolate to accomplish what you are looking for.

It wouln't be hard, the dimmer is right next to the headlight switch and is fed it;s source from the brown wire. All you would have to do is 5 wire a relay so it breaks that feed....

On an '82 F100 the dimmer is part of the headlight switch. It's very possible the wire might not be there. Gotta love them old trucks.posted_image

Hey Now,

Thanks for the Replys!

I know having the Dash lights Flash is no big Deal, but I like things different then the norm.

I was thinking about running a Diode between the Headlight Switch and the location of the Flash tigger splice in...

Any feedback on this idea?

Thanks Again

Meter the Switch to determine if Dash Lites are part of Parking Lites ( I don't think it is )  Relay Parking Lite wire at switch
OR
Relay further down the harness close to the firewall.  Cut Parking light wire in half..........

PIN 87 =Parking Lite wire from Unit
PIN 87a = Light switch side
PIN 30 = Parking Light side
PIN 85 = GROUND
PIN 86 = Parking Lite wire from Unit
