most likely has ford pats system. make sure the deaper/seller is giving you atleast 2 keys. plenty of bypass options, but you must have 2 keys.

The 1999 Ford Windstar only requires one active PATS key to program a PKF1 keyless bypass module. The parking lights as stated need to be interfaced properly with & the stereo requires Ford keys to remove the OEM deck from the dash. You will need a dash kit and also will require a wire harness.

why do you need the key to remove the deck?

The van only requires 2 additional relays for the parking lights if it has automatic headlamps.  Otherwise it needs only 1 relay.

for the windstar it is a little hard to get the radio out. You need the tools they are worth it for this van. You need something with sturdiness to get the radio out. Apply pressure outwards of the radio and pull. Keep trying it will take time to get it out. There is no other way.

If you have a pick set use it to insert into each of the holes. If you do not have a pick set then an Allan key set will do the same.

i hooked up my stereo today and its not working. there was a fuse that was broken but i replaced it and nothing. so i dunno im goin to look some more into it tommorow. also i hooked my alarm/starter and i had some problems

1) one of the relays the manual said its for 2nd ign, 2nd str or 2nd acc. and theres 2 wires comein from the relay a purple and a blue and i have no idea what there for.

2) i dont know were the tach wire is suppose to go. i have no idea where the coil is.

3) i figured that without these hooked up it should still work. i followed the instuctions on how to set up the remote and nothing.

Your van has 2 acc. and 2 ign. wires.  If your R/S does not have these outputs, you'll have to add a relay or two to power them.  It sounds like your R/S has a wire that is programmable for starter, acc., or ign.  You'll have to find out how to set it in the manual.

The coil is on top of the motor between the intake manifold and the firewall.  Bit of a pain to get at, but it is possible.  I've always used the pink/white wire there with no trouble.

The R/S would not work when half way installed because you haven't programmed tach and it sounds like you may be missing an ignition and accessory wire.

Yesterday i got the alarm part of my R/S working, most of it anyways. i couldnt figure the door trigger out put i think i got it now, im goin to try later. also i couldnt figure out the door locks, i have the DEI 451M and i am unsure of how to hook it up. also i still havent got the remote start hooked up yet, I still have no idea were a purple and blue wire comin from a relay go. im guessin one is for 2nd ign & 2nd acc, but i dont know which one is for which and there is no 2nd acc wire on the igniton harness (black). i have finally found the igniton coil but now im confused. my manual is saying if i have an automatic i am suppose to hook it up to the alternator. if anyon has any ideas on of this please let me know thanks. thanks for everyone's help so far.

Usually, but sometimes you will need Relays for Stronger GROUND Pulse

Try it

1-  for the power door locks you dont really need the dei 451m you can use 2 relays instead  2-the second relay of connector #1 look at connector #2 pins 3(green 2nd ignition)  4(WHITE/ black 2nd accessory) 5(RED / black 2nd starter) now for example if you hookup the green(pin #3) to the purple(small wire) of the 2nd relay from connector #1 then the blue(big wire) will power a 2nd ignition 3- for the tach there is a triple coil pack on the drivers side of engine and you can use the pink/white, RED / lt.blue or the blue/lt.green off the coil pack

for your door locks its a -neg output from your remote starter just hook the wires direct  your lock type in the van is a -neg output also.

The COIL PACK is located on the DRIVERS SIDE of the ENGINE, for TCH use the PINK/WHITE, RED / LIGHT BLUE or BLUE/LIGHT GREEN

2 problems in my 99 windstar

#1 - i hooked up the doortrigger with the diode (cathode away from the light) and the alarm input  to the cathode side but every half hour my alarm goes off and the remote says doors are being opened. i really need to fix this its really annoying.

#2 - i got my keyless entry to work but it only works for the sliding doors and trunk. even on thje door itself it only un/locks the back doors. anybody no how to get it s that all the doors un/lock with the remote

Ford's F.E.M. And R.E.M. Will Drop A Low Signal Across The Dome Light And In Most Cases Cause A False Trigger.
To Eliminate This, Connect One Side Of 10 k Ohm Resistor To The Door Trigger wire and Connect The Other Side Of The Resistor to 12 Volts.
Alternate Wire: Use YELLOW/BLUE (-) At Under Dash Curtesy Lamp If Equipped. Does Not Require Pull Up Resistor.
Use YELLOW (-) At Dimmer For Dome Light Supervision.

Also, sounds like you do NOT have the correct wires for Door Locks or bad connection or you may need Relays for stronger GROUND Pulse

i have it right have the door & trunk trigger input hooked up to the yellow/blue at the under dash with the diode and it goes off every 1/2 hour. i tried it with out the diode and the same thing. i havent tried a resistor yet but i found this on a different posting https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/New%20Wires/New%20Wires/Wires/images/windstardp.htm. i was wondering if this would work if i hooked it up to the yellow/blue instead of the ORANGE / white & BROWN / pink..

as for the door locks they are working according to the vechile wiring on here, it says that the drivers door lock & passenger door lock are different wires then the back. any suggestions on what i should do?

i got the door trigger working now. thanks for all the help. but i still dont got the door locks to work  for the front doors. can anyone help me out with this one. also i still uncertain about the tach wire. its really hard to get to the wires under the hood. i was wondering if theres a wire under the dash. and if  so were. i see a pink/white wire comin from the fuse box is this the same wire?

Posted By: djsnovas
Date Posted: April 11, 2006 at 11:13 AM
its easy to find the tach look under the hood, locate the throtle cable now just behind it you will see big wire harness with gray on it now just to the left is your coil pack there is a four wire plug on the right side of the coil pack (to the left of the big wire harness your pink/white is there just unplug it and its easy to get at as per your front door locks i need some more info does your back doors work ? do your factory switchs work on the front ? did they work before you installed the alarm/starter if your fronts dont work at all then you might have a break in a factory wire.

Posted By: mobilecustoms

the lcoks are at the fem module under the dash . for tach go to an injector. its easy to get to at the front of the engine

the lock & unlock buttons on the drivers and passenger door both unlock the back doors and the trunk. they dont lock / unlock the front doors. this is how they were before i installed the r/s

well i guess you'll have to get a wire diagram for the factory door locks so you can check the wires for breaks also check the factory relays maybe they are fried

Posted By: djlayz

i think i figured out the problem with my door locks. i think the actuators are fried. so i ordered a set yesterday. i was wondering how hard is it to install aftermarket actuators in my windstar.

last night my shock sensor kept going off every half an hour till i finally decided to turn it off. and i also noticed my rps goes off everyonce in a while, when nobody is around my car to knock on the window. does anybody know why these 2 things keep going off.

well i turned the sensitivity on my shock sensor down to 2 and its not going off but my paging system went off a couple of times still. and there still is no one around to knock on the window. so one has to know whats up with this. it cant be 'cause i hooked it up wrong.

Chris' post will work, so long as you can get a key that can be cut and turn the ignition cylinder. Doing it this way would be the least expensive, but also would take away the functionality of the factory anti-theft system. You can go to the dealership and have them program a new key to the vehicle without the need for 2 original keys, but I have heard this is a very expensive option.

Hope this helps.
