I recently purchased a 1999 Corvette with a Python 1500 ESP installed.  I could have sworn when I looked at the car initially, when the salesperson did the remote start, the front (and I presume rear) parking lights flashed.  I also believe that when arming and disarming the alarm, the parking lights flashed, but I can't swear to that.

The parking lights do not flash anymore when activating the report start feature, but I am wondering if fiddling with the remote I somehow turned that feature off?  I was given a key that they claimed was for a "locking gas cap" but since the car didn't have a locking gas cap, I went looking and found a black plastic "box" under the hood with a rubber cover over the key switch that this key fit. 

There seem to be three positions to this covered switch.  All the way in one direction the siren doesn't sound when locking and unlocking, the other direction the siren chirps when locking and unlocking, and the "mid" position the siren sounds at all times (presume a "test" feature). 

Initially the switch was all the way in the "silent" direction, so changed that so I get the chirps when arming or disarming.  I'd like chirps and parking light flash, but not sure how to get that, if at all possible.  Does this have to be reprogrammed at a dealer (I have the previous owners original receipt so know where it was installed), or can this be done using the remote?  I also was never told where the valet switch is, so maybe I ought to just go to the dealer.  I am always inquisitive, so would like to "fix" the parking light flash without a trip to the dealer.  Thanks in advance for any advice you may have to give.   Tim

i do not know what the black box is. as for the parkign light flash may wan tto check th efuse that on the alarm it be a white wire.
