I had a buddy of mine (not a shop or anyone who i have a warranty with) help me install a new alarm in my old buick that already had keyless entry and power locks, it was getting old and buggy and i wanted a real alarm to protect my system inside. i do not know much about alarm installs so i just went along and followed what he told me and didnt pay much attention to what we did. well all of a sudden the front passenger side door lock seems to be broken...

When i press the lock button on the the remote, the door will lock. but if i press the unlock button, the door will not do so. this is also the case for when i press lock/unlock button on the door pannel of the driver seat inside the car...

so basically, the locking mechanism of the door is working just fine, but whatever causes the door to unlock is broken. i have to do it manually each time.

did we blow a fuse? or break something in the door? what did we do wrong during the install and how can i remedy this situation??

sounds like somethign is wrong on the car side, check the wiring to see where he taped into, possibly a plug not plugged all the way back in, also if you have a meter check the output of the alarm to see if it pulses when you press the unlock, also check the switch wire, this will tell you for sure what side the problem is on.
