Hooking up a alarm where does this go: External Start Trigger (-) (WHT/BLUE) NOTE: The following connection is only required on a REMOTE START installation. This wire will activate the Remote Start when a GROUND pulse is applied to it from an external device. thanks, travis

That wire can be used to trigger the remote start with the factory remote. If you have negative door locks you can hook it up to either lock or unlock (usually unlock) and pressing it 2 times usually will trigger the remote start.

I was confused for a while  I'm still not sure if it's a question or a statement because you answered yourself. Congrats and have a beer! Just in case........ That wire is used to remote start the vehicle by a second module whether a keyless or security system. If your alarm has an auxiliary channel you're not using then you can connect it to the "external trigger wire" so that when you press the button which controls the exterior trigger then it'll activate the remote car starter and start your car. This does away with the need for two transmitters - one for security the other for remote start. Keep in mind that the range of most alarms are far less than remote starters. ------------- Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.

Well im thinking that i need to hook it up somehow because if i try to start the vehicle by pressing start...it doesnt start, but! if i touch the external start trigger wire to ground fires rite up, thinking that the car needs to have the doors unlocked to start it so if i hook that wire up to the pulse before start wire...it should work correctly, mabie, im not sure kinda want sombody else to give me their oppinion first tho. this is a code alarm system that im installing

If it fires up using external trigger than you installation is good and ready to start. I just re-read your post when you said "required on a REMOTE START installation". Did it come with remotes at all? Is it two different units.....one alarm and one remote starter? ------------- Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.

two different units code alarm ca425 adn ca545 and yes it has remotes but the start button jsut chirps 5 times when pushed i know its hooked up correctly because the external start trigger wire starts the car. ------------- ---Travs---

5 chirps sounds like "Car Finder" not remote start. By default remote start requires two presses of the OPT button. You can change it to a single press in the features menu.

ok i feel likea moron ur correct if i pust opt 2 times it works fine starts and everything, how come i have a button on the remote that is supposed tio be she start button but it doesnt do it?

its a snowflake, red, but it also has a option button, but on my 2 way its option so works for me thanks i cant believe that it took me 4 months to figure this out, and duh, i could program it for 1 button push
