Hello,

Can anyone tell me how I can activate my rear defrost when my car is remote started with my Viper 560xv unit?  I have 1997 Chrysler Sebring Lxi.  Thanks!

use the bluew/white wire on the remote start harness 5 pin connector. dotn forget to check programing, this can be change form pulse or latch.
i dotn knwo the wire color until soem coems around and says it, you goign to ahve to put a meter to it.

Thanks for the info swamprat...anyone know the specifics for this install?  ie, which wire to look for for the cars rear defrost, latched/pulse, relays, etc?  Thanks so much, this is such a great forum!

All-

I took the dash all apart and found that the rear defroster button is actually sitting on top of a built-in relay.  I unplugged the wiring harness to this relay and found the following pin out:

1  0  2  3

4          5

1.  Black w/ yellow stripe

2.  Blue w/ red stripe

3.  Black w/ red stripe (larger awg)

4.  Black

5.  Green w/ white stripe

Can anyone tell me which wire I might need to tap into with the output from my remote start:?  I am not good with a meter, but can easily run the wire if I just knew which one I needed.  I am also assuming that I need a pulsed output instead of a latched since the button for the rear defrost is momentary and not latched.  Please help if you can.  If no one knows which wire to use, can anyone explain to me how I would figure this out with a meter.  I know how to use one, just not sure how to test for this?  Thanks so much!

Ok here is what I found with my limited knowledge of metering:).  If I ground the blue wire with a quick touch to ground, the black w/ red wire goes to 11V and the defrost light comes on.  If I ground the blue wire again the black wire goes back to 0V and the light goes off.  How do I hook up my remote start output so that it sends a momentary connection to ground to the blue wire on my defrost relay?  Thanks in advance!

Got it working.  For anyone needing this in the future, connect the blue w/ white wire on the remote start harness 5 pin connector to the Blue w/ red wire coming off of the rear defrost button.  You also need to set the output to pulse.
