I just dropped my truck (2002 Yukon) off at the installer to install an Autopage RS-750LCD and they told me that they would not install the remote start feature because of incompatibilities with the ignition wiring. They say the Yukon has a three wire ignition and the Autopage comes with a two wire and will burn out the ignition, starter or something. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Are there any known problems with remote start in 2002 GMC Yukons? Can someone explain to me what they are talking about because I got hot when they told me that and I need a little understanding. TIA

First of all, You can hook up as many Ignition wires as you want with any remote starter. You only need one ignition output to do so, most units come with 2 because more vehicles use 2 these days. All you need to do is use a relay for the other ignition or accessory wires that any vehicle has. I would take their comments as a sign of their Ignorance or just stupidity and never go back to them. Go somewhere else because even if you convince them it is possible, Who knows what they will do to your car after saying that. You could even do the install yourself. ------------- J Rilla

Of course it can be done. You can take one ignition wire and make several more with a few relays. If I were you I would find a shop more trustworthy.

I have a 97 yukon, and just as posted from above, all that was needed was to relay to the multiple ign wires. -------------

of course, it can be done. The shop just doesn,t want to do it ,becuse you probably already had the unit.

Thanks for the replies. I went to two more installers and what they said is that the problem is with the passlock system on the Yukon. They say it can be done but additional equipment have to be purchased and takes some doing which adds to the install cost but it can be done. What additional equipment will I need to get this done? Will a relay and a Passlock II or III bypass get it done or will I need something else? I want to purchase everything I need to get the remote start done and pay someone to do it. One of the guys said he would do it but his prices were more than I could absorb at the time (ie.. $110.00 for the bypass). I know I can get the stuff cheaper. Can someone help me out on what to get. Any help would be appreciated.

Advanced alarm install at my shop would include....door locks, starter kill, illum entry (if had internal relay), door pin, trunk and hood pin if available in front of vehicle, shock sensor, flashing lights, and trunk pop if alarm provided necc.output for $140. Add on RS for $65. DEI bypass w/ install $65-$75. This applies to all vehicles not yours exclusively.

you would need a passlock 2 bypass module which they would charge like 50 bucks for and a few relays so that every wire that needs power is powered up.
