Hi, everyone.

Ok this is my problem, ive install a compustar 2way alarm/starter.

The problem im having is the vehicle started fine the first times after my install. Then all of a suddden it wouldnet start. When u press the start button, you can hear the ignition start, but no lights on the dash come on, and the RED security light is illuminated.

I put the key in the ignition position of the cylinder not the on postion, and i try to remote start the car, and it starts but then shuts off.

There was a previous starter in this car, a viper unit. I used the bypass from that unit with the compustar, I believe it was a dei bypass but there isnt any brand markings on it.

Now i tested the vehicle for factory alarm, by locking the car with the factory key fob, and then manualy unlocking and opening the door, no facotry alarm.
Becuase of that i dint bother hooking up the disarm wire.
I also ran out of relays and dint hook up my 2nd accessory wire. Are these my faults?

Im really stuck in a bind here

thanks for the help.

Make sure that the BLACK status output wire is getting a (-) signal going to the bypass module. Also, make sure that you have a solid ground on the CN1 harness for the Compustar.

sounds like the bypass module to me, Like Velocity said, check the status output wire, and check all other connections w/ the bypass also, the universal bypass mod from DEI is the 556u,which I've seen a few go bad, but usally its something simple that makes you feel dumb for not noticing it . GL

So you guys dont think that it is related to me maybe not hooking up the factory disarm?

It baffles me because it worked for the first 5 times, then al of a sudden dint work.

If it was bypass related wouldnt the car start then die off? or just crank and not start.

Ive had bypasses fail and these were the condition that lead to believe bypass failure.

1. Even if disarm were slightly, possibly, any sort of an issue.........simply unlock the car from the outside, using the KEY IN THE DOOR, and then try to remote start. If it still doesn't work, disarm isn't your problem.

2. You didn't say what body style Sebring it is. The sedan and convertible are real Chryslers; the coupe is a rebodied Mitsubishi Eclipse. That changes a lot of things.

3. What color is the second-accessory wire you didn't hook up? The wire that makes power in the radio position, isn't necessary for remote start.

4. The fact that putting your key in the ignition makes it crank but not start............ well, that tells us that A., your transponder bypass is not functioning, and B., you have other problems too.

5. Did you check all of the Compustar's fuses? It probably has several.

It's possible that one, but not all of the fuses has blown........and maybe that fuse powers up the bypass module, AND some other essential circuit........which would make the bypass not funcion, and also not allow the car to start completely.

If you do find a blown fuse, it probably blew for a reason, so check that you taped everything up well.

The car is a Sebring Sedan.

The car cranks and starts with the key in the ignition, but then shuts off.

Im getting ground from the ground out wire.
Power to all wires, 12+,Ign,acess

Im almost certain its the bypass.

Ive been working out of town the last day so i havnt been able to swap in a new bypass.

No fuse is blown.

The bypass modules that the Chrysler uses requires that you wrape the signal induction wire around the cylinder. How many times did you wrap the wire around the cylinder and how did you attach it ? If you didn't zip tie it or hot glue the wire onto the cylinder, I would check to see if it unravelled or just plain loosened off.

It still may or may not be the bypass. Here's what you can check to verify.

--When you start the car with the key, take note of all the warning lights that come on and then go out......you will see a small red dot there........it should come on solid for a couple of seconds, and then go off........that is the normal way for the Sentry Key system to work.

--Next, try the remote start and observe the red light. If it's on steady, the bypass is okay.....if it's flashing, the bypass is not okay.

--If it's the DEI bypass 555C, well, getting that silly little pellet placed just right is difficult, and over time it can move around and stop working. Also, inside the shrink tubing on the pellet, there are two fragile solder connections......open the shrink tubing with a razor and check.

--If all else fails, you still might not need to buy another expensive Chrysler bypass.

First, take the 555C pellet, with the relay disconnected.....hold it up to the car's keyhole, try the remote start, and make sure it works that way, then........

Just get an ordinary key-in-the-box style like a DEI 556U, Audiovox AS-TCBM, Trilogix TBK-III.................... take the pellet from the 555C, cut the wires off, and super-glue it in place inside the box.

OK, so many installers make this mistake on chryslers it's not even funny.

First off, under the hood, look for a 20amp fuse that is blown.

second, remove your second power wire on the starter from the red wire at the ignition switch and connect both power wires to the pink/black.

problem solved.
